The Secret Circle Finale : First And Last One

Well I just heard something very interesting. That's right, The Secret Circle has been cancelled. So this will be the last post about this show which was either a disappointment or a nice joke. I can't really decide.

So, as always there was some plot about the crystals, and Cassie blindly followed her daddy. They threw the crystals in some lake, then Cassie did her weird I-can-feel-the-magic thing, went into the lake and took out a jellyfish or something.

And the power was overwhelming and it gave her and Diana a mini-orgasm.

Then it turned into a skull. Mission accomplished.

Sadly, Daddy betrayed his daughters and trapped them while he was getting ready to exterminate all witches without Balcoin blood.

When all this was going on, this was going on :

Jake and Melissa found Faye but then they were kidnapped again. The witch hunters started burning them but luckily the parents arrived and saved the day. Meaning that Dawn stopped the fire with the magic she'd just gotten from Charles mother and that dear Charles took the demons. Like, he called out to them and they went up his nose and ears. Goodie !

Meanwhile, at the house of doom, Adam tried to be the hero, but he started burning and for some reason he made a little table move and of course Blackwell noticed and threw him away. Literally. And yes, that made me laugh.

Cassie and Diana were on their own, again. So Cassie decided to kill Diana.

But it was all just a brilliant strategy to get her to activate her dark magic, so that they could get out of their invisible cage and kill their Daddy.

I have often noticed that the actors on this show are always trying to convey strong emotions with extremely disturbing faces. This is the last post about The Secret Circle so I really wanted to share my mixed feelings about those strange facial expressions.

Anyway, everything went back to normal. Faye and Jake kissed.

Jake got a note from his grandpa. Where did it come from ? Who cares, right ?

And Adam wanted to experience the mini-orgasm thing with the skull. You know, normal.

But then, the dreadful sight of four young people with the mark of dark magic, meaning that the four other children of Blackwell were coming to Chance Harbor. Unfortunately, we won't get to see it. Bummer.

Well, I have to say I didn't think they were gonna cancel the show. Okay, it's dull and generic and poorly written and the cast might be the worst ever, but I thought it was gonna be this silly show that no one really cares about but that still got some viewers and fervent followers. But no. Goodbye Secret Circle, you have entertained me for a while, from time to time you made me forget how bored I was by making me laugh with a silly face, or a stupid reply or anything Cassie did or said. But it's over, farewell my friend. Perhaps you'll be missed.

The Vampire Diaries Finale : The Departed

There was a lot of deaths in this episode. I'll talk about Caroline and Tyler a little later because I think they deserve their own post. But last Thursday we also lost two great characters.

Like I said, Alaric basically died because Elena made the wrong choice. But before he died he had time to do what he wanted, well part of it. Evil Alaric tried to influence baby bro and of course he succeeded because Jeremy Gilbert is so freaking stupid.

So he came running to his stupid (only) friend and they came up with the brilliant idea to tell Alaric where Damon went with Klaus's body (that was part of the whole group's plan) and then kidnap Elena when nobody was there (that was not).

I don't think I really understood their plan. Why did they send Alaric to the one place he shouldn't ever go ? And why were Stefan and Jeremy just standing in the woods ?This whole thing is beyond me.

All this to say, The Big Bad Klaus is dead. Alaric staked him and he burned. It was a good twist but ... Klaus in his Joseph Morgan form is dead. So long my friend, you'll be missed. Also, as much as I love Tyler and Caroline together I have to say I'm a little disappointed we won't get to see the whole Klaus-Caroline thing evolve and maybe progress with Joseph Morgan. I mean it still could, since Klaus is now in Tyler's body but that might be weird ...

I don't know where was Kol but he wasn't there ... I doubt he's still in Denver, considering Jeremy is not, but he didn't show up when his brother died, so I'm guessing he fled when Alaric went crazy. So there was only Rebekah and Elijah left. And they were sad and they looked like puppies. In a good way.

Back to Alaric. I do not approve of Alaric dying. At all. Even if it made a good scene. I don't care. I didn't want him to die. He did. I'm not happy.

But he came back to say goodbye to Jeremy in ghost form. And that raised yet another question. Is he going to do that in season 4 ? I don't think I want that. I think a clean break might be better than having him around but not really there and only talking to Jeremy whom we have enough of.

Anyway, we had to say goodbye to many great characters last week. It's still too soon to know how this void will feel next season, I trust the writers of the Vampire Diaries. Every time someone dies, it looks like it was the one character they couldn't possibly kill but we've managed without Anna, Jenna, Uncle John and others. I guess we'll have to do without Alaric. 'Till next season. How on earth am I gonna wait ?

Once Upon A Time Finale : A Nice Wrap On The Season

So Sunday was the finale of Once Upon A Time's first season. It wasn't exactly thrilling but I got to see a lot of people I've been obsessed with since they left. Or just since last week, for others. First Graham was there. In Fairyland : as a huntsman. I cannot say thanks enough. When he died, I was in denial for like two episodes like "he's gonna come back right ?" but he didn't. At least I guess I got some sort of closure.

Big twist : Emma finally believes. That took a long time coming. I guess she had some sort of a revelation when she held the book she's held like a hundred times before but sure, okay, just go with it.

So she came to see August a.k.a. Pinocchio just in time to see him, well, die. Honestly I wouldn't really care if he was dead but it somewhat bothers me that his character hasn't really done anything great. He didn't get Emma to believe and I don't feel like he's been of much help. But, hey, that's life.

Oh, Robert Carlyle, how good it is to see your face on my screen. Anyway, Emma and Regina decided to team up with Rumpelstiltskin because they're so freaking clever. To be fair it was sort of their only option.

Now that we're on Rumpelstiltskin, let's continue. Jefferson, who I am always happy to see, freed Belle. Finally ! She's been down in her cell for god knows how many years and finally someone had the idea to go get her.

He sent her to Rumpelstiltskin (I'm so tired of writing his whole name) for protection. Which he was more then happy to provide.

Belle was probably Rumpelstiltskin's best storyline of all. With his son, they're the only ones that make Mr Gold a lovable person. He shows a side of himself that combined with his manipulative, impish side makes a perfect character.

But it wasn't perfect until she remembered. I really wanted to see R. get his happy ending and he finally got it. I don't really know how they can be together without it being weird but at least they were happy and reunited for a moment.

Of course there's a reason Belle remembered. So, after he ate The Queen's poisoned apple pie, Henry was in a coma, and then he died. But a kiss born of his mother's true love brought him back and broke the curse.

All the characters remembered who they were, but they're still in Storybrook. So I'm guessing they'll be trying to get back to their land.

For now, they have Rumpelstiltskin's curse to deal with. Maybe it will send them back, maybe it'll do something else, I don't know.

It was a nice finale, but I think that the first thing a finale should be is different from all the other episodes in an obvious way. For me, that's not really what happened there, but that doesn't mean it was bad it just means that although I will watch season 2 I'm not dying to see it, waiting 4 months doesn't seem unbearable ! Mainly because nothing was left unfinished. It's like they really wanted to wrap it all up before the end. The only thing that could be called a cliffhanger is this curse and it's not really that interesting to wonder about. Then again OUAT has never been really big on cliffhangers so it sort of fits.

The Vampire Diaries Finale : Elena's Choice

My oh my, I guess that was the best Vampire Diaries finale so far ! Okay people we've got a lot of ground to cover here, I think I'll cover it all in separate posts.

First of all thank you for finally bringing back Daniel Gillies ! Elijah's was nowhere to be seen for the past few episodes and as much as I find his character disturbing, I want him there. Anyway, our good friend Elijah came to the Gilbert house with a proposal.

But of course, only one of the Salvatore brothers was actually there. Because when they found out Elena was in the hospital they decided that one should stay and drive Klaus's body in a secluded place and the other was free to go back.

And guess who got the I'm-so-glad-you're-back hug from Elena ?

So during their brief debate on whether to trust Elijah or not, Damon couldn't do a thing because he was a hundred miles away. And Stefan had the brilliant idea to let Elena decide, 'cause you know, that usually turns out so well. I'm sorry, I'm all about Delena and maybe I'm not being fair but Damon was at a disadvantage in this whole episode ! He was a hundred miles away for god's sake !

So, of course, Stefan was all alone with Elena, just like old times. Giving him room to have my least favorite moment of the entire episode. I knew it was gonna happen. I knew they weren't going to have Elena make here choice without having kissed Stefan at least once in season 3 and I get that ! But still.

So when Klaus died, Damon was far away and Stefan was somewhere in the woods (for some reason) but I'm guessing not far from where he thought Elena was. And of course he didn't forget to mention that to Damon. Sure, just rub it in you sadistic psychopath.

But what he didn't know was that he was just as far from her as his brother was. Thanks to Matt and Jeremy's brilliant plan. (Maybe I'll talk about it later, maybe I won't who cares about them anyway)

Heartbreaking moment ahead, everyone.

So, since Matt kidnapped Elena and took her out of town, they're actually geographically right between Damon and Stefan. Which are both going to die within the hour. Hence the choice.

And of course Damon gets left behind. He gets a crappy goodbye and an even crappier explanation over the phone. Why ? Please just explain to me why Stefan would deserve a goodbye she wouldn't have arrived in time to give, more than Damon !

He's all alone, he knows he's going to die, and he's desperate for her to give him something. But she clearly tells him that if it were down to the two of them she'd want to say goodbye to him.

In her defense, we all knew it was gonna be Stefan. As they say, it's always gonna be Stefan.

Now I would just love to talk about the consequences of her choice. She ended up in the bottom of a river and died. Matt may be dead too. Now, granted, nobody really cares if Matt lives or die but still that might be yet someone else she got killed.

As if he hadn't had enough, Damon had to fight his former best friend who now wants to exterminate all vampires.

Oh Evil Alaric, I was so afraid this moment would come. Now that it has, I feel empty inside. Yeah, that bad.

They were fighting, minding their own business when Alaric started dying. And Damon was like "Dude, WTF ?"

Alaric was more of a secondary character but he represented stability. When he turned evil, it was like everybody's foundations started shaking. Now he's gone. Because of her. Sure it wasn't exactly him but that's yet another person she's killed.

And Damon is there, his friend just died in his arms, he knows it means she's dead too. But he knows nothing. He just doesn't understand, how could he ? He talked to her like five minutes before and now what she's just dead ? He could've killed himself right there for all we know ! Jesus couldn't she just have gone to him and avoid all of this ?

Luckily he's not ready to die just yet so he gets back to Mystic Falls first. He arrives at the hospital all panicked and lost. Poor thing. But luckily (or not) Meredith tells him she gave Elena vampire blood when she was admitted earlier in the night.

Elena is a vampire. I have to say I cannot wait to see how that's gonna play out. I honestly believe it will have to affect her decision regarding the brothers. She chose Stefan because he was right for her, but the definition of "her" is about to be entirely redone. Becoming a vampire completely changed Caroline, she was with Matt, she loved Matt but when Tyler came along that changed too. Even Katherine seemed nice, even sweet and fragile, when she was human but vampires deal with emotions differently. I believe that her choice is not a definitive one because she won't be the same person as the one that made it.

Just to finish, on a Delena (what's wrong with just saying Damon-Elena ?) note. If I was just a little less mature, I'd make this exhibit A of why Damon rocks and Stefan sucks.

But I'll just say she was totally flirting with him.

And most important of all, they were both intrigued by each other. Damon first thought she was Katherine, at that time he was still obsessed with her, and that scene has to be interpreted accordingly. But after the original shock, he was actually intrigued by her, by what she said.

And of course, she was intrigued too, first because he oozes sex but also because of what he said. "A mysterious stranger with all the answers" that says it all.

This brings the big question : What if ? What if he hadn't erased her memory ? What if when she saw him in the Salvatore house that "first" time she had recognized him ? The very foundation of their relationship would have been changed. Because in that scene he's not talking to her the way he did in season 1, he talks to her as if he knows her which is how he talked to her after their relationship went from "friends" to "it's complicated".

But he did it. And she'll probably never know. Just like she'll never know that one night he came to see her, told her he loved her but he didn't deserve her. But goddamn it, what if ?

Edit : I'm so sorry, I just realized she's gonna know, since she"s gonna be a vampire ! She's gonna remember everything :)
